Annual Review of Employment Law 2016

2016 has been another busy year for HR and employment law developments.  For the first time we have new legislation on spent convictions in employment, objective justification of compulsory retirement and legislation on Paternity Leave.  You must prepare now for the EU General Data Protection Regulation - €20m fines are on the way for data breaches in May 2018. October last saw the new WRC come into operation: we have the latest developments under the new system, including what to expect from the new inspections regime from the Director & Chief Labour Inspector. We also have the latest advice relating to holiday pay calculation and other OWT developments, protected disclosures, work permits and social media, all of which have continued to concern the employment arena since our last review.

But we don’t just cover the latest legislative developments – we will also analyse Irish employment case law on issues as wide as discretionary bonuses, disability and reasonable accommodation, fixed term contracts and more.  Nor do we stop at employment law developments alone: we also have sessions on key issues currently concerning HR and legal practitioners, such as best practice in workplace investigations, dealing with grievances raised during disciplinary proceedings and the future of recruitment – and much more besides – all in one day.

Time constraints and a lack of resources can stop you identifying key information you need to effectively update policies, procedures and working practices. Wouldn’t it be easier if expert lawyers explained ALL of the legislative and case law updates to you in one day? Let us save you and your organisation time, money and stress by providing you with detailed updates on the Irish employment law developments you need to know.
